Brendan Koistinen, DO

Dr. Brendan Koistinen is a board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine physician specializing in non-surgical orthopedics and sports medicine. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from AZCOM – Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ and went on to complete residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Following residency, Dr. Koistinen completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Andrew’s Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Birmingham, AL. While in fellowship, Dr. Koistinen served as team physician for Troy University athletics, including the Sun Belt Conference championship winning football team. Additional team coverage included Samford University athletics, Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s basketball, Birmingham Barons baseball (AA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox), SEC Baseball Conference Tournament, NCAA men’s basketball tournament, Mercedes Marathon, and 6A high school football. Clinically in fellowship, Dr. Koistinen became proficient at using musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and therapeutic injections. Outside of medicine, Dr. Koistinen grew up in South Dakota playing sports, including collegiate baseball. Various injuries sparked an interest in orthopedics and he now has a passion for educating patients on their injuries and the different treatment plans that can be implemented to get them back in the game regardless of athletic level or age.
